Get out clause

10 February, 2007

It was a struggle cycling home through the blustery weather this evening and when I finally got in and plonked myself on the sofa I couldn’t help but kick myself for commiting to the two weekend runs. Both of them are in Bushy Park/Teddington, about a 7 mile cycle from my flat and both start around 9am – how am I supposed to fit in my weekend lie in?

I was wondering if I could get away with deleting my last post so that no one need know I was wimping out, but it looks like its already been spotted and there is no going back. This blogging malarky is weird – you write a post and then it feels like you’ve made a promise to your mother or something.

Out of the blue I received an email from fellow Mortlake runner who informs me that there has been some horrendous mistake with the Adirun – it seems there is no 5 mile run this sunday, only an 8 and 10 miler. Great news or what? I see this as my get out clause – I have never run 8 miles and its no time to start setting records while I am still recuperating from my cold. I know I’m being lame but I have packed my rucksac and set my alarm for the time trail tomorrow so its not all bad.

I’ve gotta say you are amazing riding your bike in the snow!!! I’ve seen snow once and I was so rugged up I couldn’t move let alone ride a bike! That’s dedication!

Good luck today with your time trial!

Ta – I’m just about to drag myself out into the rain. You must be in the same boat this morning heading out for the Love run. Have a good one!

Isn’t it great on how we can justify decisions made or not made or cancelled or …….

I love my sleep-in’s as well.

Well done on the wet and cold 5k :-) and for finding my £20 for me, keep it safe ;-)

Hope you managed to get your bike sorted out.

I know what you mean about blogging, once you’ve posted there’s no going back – it’s the best motivational tool ever :-)

I went and it was super! So glad I dragged myself out and I’m almost regretting pulling out of the run tomorrow – I reckon I could run 20 miles now.
Well maybe not right now, just at the moment I can feel my blood sugar plummeting and if I don’t find a chocalate muffin soon I may collapse.

Hello! I’ve just found you. I’m a BPTT regular and I’m an adirunner guide too. If you want to run 5 miles tomorrow then that’s easy to organise – also there’s an easy 6.5 mile route too… No excuses left now ;-) Also…. I thought BPTT was gorgeous this morning – lovely weather for it!
