Running Commute No 5

Oh blimey it was a struggle today, as I type my legs are seizing up. During the run my legs felt like lead and the tarmac like sand, I only continued because I thought it must be good for the soul to suffer so greatly. I convinced myself that I would need to be prepared for miles like this if I was ever to reach marathon distances.

Funny thing is, after I loaded the results onto sportTracks I see that my time was actually faster than last week, weird. While I was out running I was convincing myself that the first half is always bad as it’s a relentless uphill struggle but again sportTracks reveals the truth - downhill all the way

“must be good for the soul to suffer so greatly”

I’m going to remember that!

How do you arrange your commute? Do you leave your jacket at work and wear a new one in in the morning? Just take the bare minimum you need in with you on the days you run home? Running home is something I really want to try one day but not sure of the logistics of it.

As a regular cycle commuter I have got used to the “pain in the arse” nature of planning ahead and putting up with slightly creased shirts at work.
On running commute day I wear my running shoes and the rest is my work outfit for the day. I wear my lightweight waterproof just in case, but I’ve never yet worn it for the run home.

This is usually a slightly scruffy day in that I don’t wear a suit jacket - just trousers, shirt and jumper. All my running clobber, mp3 and satellite gadget is packed in the running rucsac and I attach my water bottle to the waist strap. At work I have already left a pair of shoes. In the evening I put on running clobber and carry half of my clothing and waterproof jacket home in the rucksac and pick the rest up the next day when I ‘m on the bike.

I don’t think thats too bad.

I have to make it clear that my “suffering greatly” comment was a little tongue in cheek.

Well done on the running commute… I wished I could do it, But I’d have to run 26 miles, and I’m not that mad :-D

Liked the video as well - I’ll have to get one of my running done to see how I land, I think it may be heel first also.

Joggerblogger mentioned what I’m about to mention. I’d also have to run heaps of k’s to commute to work, about 35 km, just not feasible for me.

btw, do you like your little graphic (avatar) I assigned to you over at my blog. I think it looks okay.
