Diabolical training week, with only five weeks to go to the big day I managed only one, paltry, solitary run.

Mon: nowt
Tue: nothing again
Wed: 42 km bike
Thur: 16 km run
Fri: 42 km bike
Sat: mmm does off road go karting count as cross training?
Sun: and then there is punting down the river although I was punted so it probably doesn’t count.

At least you won’t get injured if you don’t run
Well that is a very good point. It hasn’t escaped my notice that I am following a training plan designed by a fella waiting for a knee replacement and trialled by you just prior to a career wrecking injury.
Now should I go out for that planned long run this afternoon or not?

Oi!
Get off yer backside and go out training!
On the plus side you did get the ten mile run in so you are at least building up the mileage for the GNR
How did it feel?
It made my legs hurt – bully!

Yeah but you seem to have been let off doing intervals

The bike rides have to count for something! Don’t they?
Punting – sounds lovely.

I found that long bike rides helped my stamine parsonally – I did try to separate them from the long runs rather than do 3 consecutive days of hard stuff though.
There are intervals in the training programme Jogblog; intervals aren’t essential to completing GNR in my opinion but will built in some strength and might well help with times. Ultimately though you need a programme that you’ll get out and do – I’d be faster if I ran six times a week but would hate running that much so I’ll settle for less personally
