I found that long bike rides helped my stamine parsonally - I did try to separate them from the long runs rather than do 3 consecutive days of hard stuff though.

There are intervals in the training programme Jogblog; intervals aren't essential to completing GNR in my opinion but will built in some strength and might well help with times. Ultimately though you need a programme that you'll get out and do - I'd be faster if I ran six times a week but would hate running that much so I'll settle for less personally :-)

The bike rides have to count for something! Don't they?

Punting - sounds lovely.

Oi!

Get off yer backside and go out training!

On the plus side you did get the ten mile run in so you are at least building up the mileage for the GNR :-) How did it feel?

Well that is a very good point. It hasn't escaped my notice that I am following a training plan designed by a fella waiting for a knee replacement and trialled by you just prior to a career wrecking injury.

Now should I go out for that planned long run this afternoon or not?

At least you won't get injured if you don't run :-)
